To put this in context, an infection rate of 1 percent constitutes a "generalized and severe" epidemic. The director of the District's HIV/AIDS Administration says the District's "rate is "higher than West Africa" and "on par with Uganda and some parts of Kenya."
Residents aren't shocked by the report's findings. "You have a high incidence of HIV among African Americans, and a lot of African Americans live in the city," was the response of Ron Simmons, an HIV positive black man.
Simmons is correct about there being a high incidence of HIV among blacks. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, in 2005 "[t]he rate of AIDS diagnosis for black women (45.5/100,000 women) was approximately 23 times the rate for white women (2.0/100,000)."
The District's report found that the majority of black women were infected through heterosexual sex. Presumably, the vast majority of these women were infected by having sex with black men.
Let this report serve as a warning for white women intrigued by the media's exhortations to experiment with interracial dating. Writers like Alon Ziv have speciously promised white women everything from better orgasms to healthier and more attractive children by mating with black men, but they haven't warned white women about the risks associated with interracial sex.
The woman in this picture would be much less likely to be infected with HIV by choosing a partner of her own race.
The tone of this article disturbs me. I can understand discontent with main stream media trying to shove interracial coupling as the best solution down peoples throats. But, what does interracial coupling have to do with HIV rates among Blacks living in DC?
ReplyDeleteA majority of people couple with partners with whom they have a connection, and one of those main connections is socio-economic status. If you look at most interracial coupling, it happens most offen between two people of similar status, or desire of status (meaning they both want to work hard enough to achieve the same socio-economic status). Since overall, the socio-economic status for those classified as African-American (aka Black) is generally lower/poorer, the majority of Black&White interracial coupling occurs with Blacks of higher socio-economic standing.
Now consider that the HIV infection rate is much higher for peoples of lower socio-economic standing. This being the case, the HIV infection rate as a result of Black&White interracial coupling is more likely to much lower than Black-on-Black infection and White-on-White infection rates.
Your deduction that "The woman in this picture would be much less likely to be infected with HIV by choosing a partner of her own race" is erroneous and baseless. Explore the facts behind my argument, and you will see that I am correct.
You conveniently leave out some important trends in your analysis. You neglect to mention that black/white interracial dating is overwhelmingly black male/white female. This is clearly linked to pervasive propaganda which incessantly portrays black males with white females. In other words, black males are being lionized and sold to white/Asian females. While many (if not most) males desire to be promiscuous, it is disproportionately black males who have the opportunity to be so. Along with this privilege comes a higher risk of STD's. One could say the same thing about tall men or very handsome men and, most likely, they would also prove to have higher incidence of AIDS - but the discussion is about black men. It is not always true that higher income people have lower incidence of HIV. However it IS true that HIV infection rates are closely linked with lower average I.Q.s and a higher time preference (lack of concern for the future). You mention that people of similar SE status tend to flock together. This is true but irrelevant; a woman who sleeps around with white men is far safer than a woman who sleeps around with black men.

However, I'm not getting the same from your reply. Why don't white men have the same opportunity to be promiscuous? You then seem to indicate that this "same" opportunity would be something had by "tall men or very handsome men", but you don't even identify what it is!

You just seem to be throwing out random assertions and then failing to provide any other information from which a logical conclusion could be drawn.
You then end by reasserting what it was you were trying to prove in the first place.
I don't see that you've presented anything near a coherent argument for your position. You're going to need to provide some more links in the argument before it makes any sense (if it ever does make any sense).
Oh, and by the way, I'm a white male, in case that means anything. Let's remember that racism is not an acceptable thing for a Christian to spread. I don't know if you're a Christian, but you are talking about the "western world" (presumably white), while forgetting that the Scripture says that all who walk uprightly and serve God are acceptable to Him.
